With patience and steady encouragement, he does inch forward and will bravely continue on, even if it takes a few small starts and stops. Once inside and away from the bustle, his tail comes up and he shows you glimpses of the bright, warm dog he is working hard to become.
Out on walks, Sapphire shows curiosity along with his nerves. He enjoys sniffing, taking in the environment, and can get a little pully when his interest is sparked.
