Toronto alternative-pop artist Jayde has been garnering industry, fan and artist attention since she started creating music at age 8. She has received online praise from Jessie Reyez and Bishop Briggs while covering their music on her weekly New Music Friday series. Upon completion of high school; she is preparing to release her new EP this Fall featuring sultry original offerings “Give Me A Minute,” “Lines” and “Perfect Stranger.” Think Lorde meets LIGHTS and Dua Lipa.
Produced by Montreal’s Brody Gillman, the first single “Lines” — streaming now — is “about not getting the whole story from someone. You’re asking questions and they’re not telling you everything so you’re forced to figure it out yourself,” Jayde explains.
Brody produced the follow-up single, “Give Me A Minute,” while “Perfect Strangers,” out now was produced by Montreal’s Noah Barer.
While Jayde’s friends all went off to college she decided instead to get a day job to pay for her music production and music industry books. “I’ve been treating it as if I’m in school,” she says. “I took the job so I could put more money towards music — my dream job.”
