How to Relax with the Perfect Bath

Taking a bath can work wonders for your body and mind. It’s the ultimate way to relax at the end of a long and stressful week. Many of us who have baths in our homes probably do not take full advantage of the luxury. Setting some time aside once a week for a soak in the bath is something you will not regret! Pre-Bath Checklist

Taking a bath requires a little bit of preparation. In order to ensure your skin is feeling silky smooth after your bath, do a quick exfoliation in the shower beforehand to remove any dead skin and expose the fresh soft skin underneath! Give the bath and quick rinse down with the shower head afterwards before filling the tub for your bath.

Bath Product Must-Haves

Time to start filling the bath. Choose the right temperature and avoid making the water too hot. Although it is tempting to have an extra hot bath, it can be a little intense when too warm. To achieve the most comfortable temperature for you, hold your wrist under the running water to judge the temperature as opposed to your hand.

As the water is running, add in your chosen bath products. Some bubble bath or a bath bomb are essentials. Make your bath special with a luxurious bubble bath to mimic a spa experience with plenty of bubbles. Bath bombs are great to add some fun colours also. Epsom salts are also a wonderful addition to reduce pain in aching muscles and relieve stress. Lastly, some essential oil in your bath is the last step in making this a magical experience. Consider lavender, eucalyptus, or a citrus oil to promote wellness and relaxation.

The icing on the cake is flower petals. Sprinkle some flower petals on top of the water to add some colour and infuse the bath water with more beautiful smells and textures. Set the mood with some candles of your choice in the corners of the bath and dim the lights in the bathroom to unwind. Having a towel rolled up to support your neck will provide the ultimate comfort.

While your bath focuses on the body, give your hair some love also with a hair mask. Particularly if you have coloured hair. Schwarzkopf has an excellent guide on hair colouring and aftercare tips for coloured hair which is a must read for haircare.

Settle In and Relax

Before making the final step into bath heaven, ensure you have a few other things to hand. Some cold water with some lemon and cucumber is a great refreshing drink to have to sip on while in the bath and makes the experience even more spa-like. Or if you’ve had a particularly difficult week, why not treat yourself to a glass of wine! For some light entertainment while in the bath, have a tv show, podcast or some relaxing music playing on a stool nearby.

All you must do now is get in and enjoy for at least thirty minutes. Give yourself a rinse of with water afterwards and apply a generous layer of body moisturiser to lock in all the goodness from your bath. A perfect way to begin your weekend!
