Photographer Matt Barnes Surprise Time Lapse

Matt Barnes Cavalcade of Lights Time Lapse

Local photographer Matt Barnes thought it would be fun to capture a time lapse of The Cavalcade of Lights event in Toronto this past Saturday. This annual public event marks the official start of the holiday season for the city and takes place at Nathan Phillips Square.

When I saw the video, I thought it was pretty amazing to see. Capturing day turning into night and the crowd swelling topped with the moving  shadows cast from the towers  above is mesmerizing. Then the fireworks lit up to offer a great finish.

Matt mentioned that he, along with photographers Kyle Steven Topping and Matty Manhire, spent nine hours that day at City Hall and started  at noon using 6 cameras in total. Two were used on gambles and the other four were mounted on tripods, he tells me.

What is buzzing now is he didn’t use traditional cameras ….
