Ontario leads Canada with the best casino scene

While online casinos have surged in popularity, nothing replaces the buzz of walking onto a real casino floor, hearing the shuffling sounds of cards in a dealer’s hand and hearing the slot machines jingle and light up as it celebrates a win. In a recent player-driven ranking of Canadian casinos, BonusFinder Canada looked at thousands of user reviews across Google, TripAdvisor and Yelp to discover the highest-rated land-based casinos in Canada.

At the top of the national list is Diamond Tooth Gertie’s Gambling Hall in Dawson City, Yukon (8.98/10), which is celebrated for its historic charm and immersive Gold Rush era atmosphere. But when it comes to the sheer number of top casinos, the province’s own casinos dominate the conversation.

Caesars Windsor ranks second (8.82/10), across the whole of Canada, and remains a flagship destination for Ontario players and visitors from nearby US cities.

Located on the waterfront of the Detroit River, Caesars Windsor is one of the largest casinos in Canada. It combines a massive gaming floor (100,000 sqft) with a 27-story luxury hotel, diverse dining options and a busy roster of concerts and events to be held in its 5,000-seat Colosseum. Caesars Windsor, is more than just a casino it is a whole resort.

In Niagara Falls, Fallsview Casino Resort (8.56/10) leverages one of Canada’s most iconic natural attractions and is worth over $1bn.

Similar to Caesars Windsor, this casino has a hotel and a 5,000-seat venue, but it also has an added 1,500-seat theatre for live events. Meanwhile, the gaming floor spans an impressive 200,000 sq ft, encompassing more than 3,500 slot machines and over 130 gaming tables.

Alongside its wide space and vast gaming options, visitors can also enjoy 18 restaurants, 30 shops, a spa and fitness centre as well as … a nightclub!

These two Ontario properties are the province’s highest-ranked entries in the national top 10, showcasing how Ontario casinos are competing not just locally, but on the national stage.

Beyond Ontario: Other top casinos in Canada

While Ontario’s placements are significant, the full top 10 highlights a diverse national scene. Quebec earns three spots: Casino du Lac-Leamy (#3, 8.74), Casino de Montréal (#4, 8.72), and Casino de Charlevoix (#9, 8.49), each combining a large gaming space with resort amenities and other entertainment options such as live shows.

Other casinos: St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino in British Columbia (#5, 8.59) and Alberta’s Evergreen Park Casino (#7, 8.55) and Grey Eagle Resort & Casino (#8, 8.52) also made the cut, showing that strong casino experiences are spread across the country. Red Shores Casino Charlottetown in Prince Edward Island (#10, 8.49) rounds out the list.

What land-based casinos offer players in Ontario

The casinos in Ontario are centred in highly-populated areas, meaning they’re busy and easy to get to. Caesars Windsor is in an ideal location for those from the Greater Toronto Area and Southwest Ontario; while Fallsview sits on top of one of the largest tourist attractions in the world.

Both venues offer a full resort experience, catering for those looking beyond ‘just casino’ and wanting to enjoy live entertainment, dining experiences and luxury accommodations.

For Toronto-based players looking for a gaming-focused trip, without the need to trek to Las Vegas or Atlantic City, these Ontario destinations provide similar experiences without the need for international travel.

As the land-based casino landscape in Canada continues to evolve, Ontario’s properties are positioned to remain among the country’s most visited and best rated.
