Blizzard, along with Mushie, Mimi and Moe were surrendered when their owner passed away. They were loved and well cared for before being surrendered to the NTCR.

He was adopted originally from the NTCR when he was just a young cat. He is a such a handsome short white-haired fellow with light green eyes.

Blizzard adjusted to the shelter right away. He is a quiet, gentle, lovable lap cat. He can be lifted, petted, brushed and likes cuddling. He will get up an leave when he figures he has had enough petting. Blizzard is playful, when he is not curled up on the window sill or high up on the cat climber relaxing in the warmth of the sunshine. He likes other cats as he has been with his companions for many years.

Blizzard would like to go home with one of his long-time companions or have a new buddy he can bond with waiting at home, and he would also be okay as the only cat in a home.

He would make a wonderful companion and addition to any family. If you want to give Blizzard a “furever” home and family, please fill out an adoption application.

Dixie was trapped and brought into the shelter with 3 kittens who have all since been adopted. She is a gorgeous, quiet, timid, soul looking for a mellow, relaxed home where she can feel safe and confident.

She can be insecure at times, but comes over and rub against your legs she wants human contact but is still not certain how to accept it.

She is usually found snuggled up with a variety of other cats in the shelter. She has watched many of her snuggle buddies leave through adoption and is very eager to find a “furever” home of her very own. Excellent with other cats, Dixie would do well in a home with other cats or alone.

A darling little cat who we feel has much love to offer, Dixie will make a fantastic addition to a quiet family home! If you want to give Dixie the “furever” home she has been patiently waiting for, please fill out an adoption application and contact North Toronto Cat Rescue.

Name: Ryley!- Born: April 2012

Ryley the cat was rescued as a teenager along with his siblings (who have all since been adopted), from a life on the streets in the Apple Creek area. A big handsome dapper striped tabby, with alluring green eyes who has a typical cat purrsonality, fun loving & affectionate when he wants to be and sometimes just prefers to be left alone, in which a quick swat will let you know when that is. When he wants attention there is no time limit, he will sit and accept for as long continue to pet him or your hand gets tired. Riley has spent most of life in the shelter and is patiently waiting to know what it is like to have a “furever” home and family of his very own. An independent, social, playful and attention seeking fella, Riley often greets you when you enter his room. Amazing with all his roommates, he has been described as a “lover not a fighter” because he is always “dancing” (head butting and rubbing up against) or curled up with one or more of his roommates. If you want to help Ryley the cat find a “furever” home & family, give him the attention he craves and give him the unconditional love he deserves, please fill out an adoption application and contact NTCR.

About North Toronto Cat Rescue

This column features Toronto pets available for adoption.

Our current features come from North Toronto Cat Rescue which is a no kill, no cage shelter in Markham, Ontario, Canada. They have saved over 2000 cats over the years from both the harsh environments of life on the streets and from kill shelters in Ontario and Québec. They care for both kittens and adult cats. I always like to promote getting an adult cat as it is a lot easier to pick the cat with the right temperament for you.

The NTCR shelter is run by volunteers with no government assistance. They currently have around 200 plus awesome cats that would love a good home. Go and visit them soon!

Name: Asia Born: July 2015

Asia the cat was rescued when NTCR received a call about cat that was abandoned in the dead of winter, when her owners moved away and left her behind. She was living in a parking garage in the Fairview Mall area. When she first arrived she was overwhelmed and very aloof when it came to trusting people and being touched. With an abundance of unconditional love and patience she is learning that she is safe and people are her friends. A stunning uniquely marked calico, with the cutest carrot shaped striped nose, gorgeous amber eyes and the silliest of purrsonalities. Asia is an extremely curious and playful beauty who is a little shy at first but will easily engage when play is involved as enjoys being petted and stroked. She sometimes gets a little over zealous during play time and can be a little nippy & swatty sometimes, all in the name of play, but is slowly learning that she does not need to be. Excellent with all her roommates, she is often found snuggled up in the sleeping kitty pile. Asia would do best in a mature home that is willing to show her patience, tenderness and who understands her need to feel safe and continue to guide her on her journey to confidence. If you want to be the one to show Asia the cat what it is like to have, unconditional love, a “furever” home and family, please fill out an adoption application and contact NTCR.

Name: Fancy – Born: October 2014
Bio: Fancy the cat was rescued from a life on the streets. When she first arrived at the shelter she was absolutely terrified, feisty, extremely hissy and defensive who would lash out with her paws, as she did not trust people at all.

She even had the nick name of “Hissy” for the first part of her journey in learning to trust people. Thanks to the persistence of NTCR volunteers, Fancy has come a long way and now trusts people who have a slow approach. She still exhibits moments of “catitude” where she is guarded in that when she feels insecure will give you a single swat but progresses each day in turning that defensive mechanism off. When you enter her room she will approach you but always stays arms lengths away, but she there is, just wanting to be loved waiting for the right approach. She is learning and the majority of the time she will happily accept and enjoy being petted and stroked. Fancy is a beautiful long haired grey & white tabby with adorable little white paws, stunning green eyes and a unique purrsonality. She is good with other cats but would do best in a mature adult home with an owner who understands her need to feel secure and the patience to help her on her final steps towards becoming the confident loving cat she is meant to be. If you are willing to work with Fancy the cat to help her blossom into the people loving cat she wants to be and give her the “furever” home she deserves , please fill out an adoption application and contact NTCR.
