<p>Get ready for three days filled with joy, imagination, and togetherness. Join in interactive art making and guided family-friendly tours to creative projects you can dive into together; every moment is made to inspire and entertain. Discover art in unexpected ways, make a little magic with your loved ones, and turn the museum into your February playground.</p>

<p>LEGO Group is bringing a <span class="il">show</span>-stopping, family-friendly experience to the floor, the <span class="il">Canadian</span> debut of a life-size<b> LEGO® 1950s Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special Cool Down Car</b>. Fresh from its debut at the FORMULA 1® Las Vegas Grand Prix, where it transported Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, and George Russell to the podium, this eye-catching build blends pop culture, <span class="il">automotive</span> history, and LEGO brick creativity. <p>Located in the John Street Roundhouse National Historic Site, the Toronto Railway Museum (TRM) is in the heart one of North America’s popular tourist areas. Located a short walk from Union Station and just steps from the CN Tower in downtown Toronto. <p>This public exhibition is an international design competition held annually in Toronto, Canada. Since 2015, artists, architects, designers, and students  are invited to reimagine lifeguard stations as interactive public art installations, transforming city beaches into an open-air exhibition each winter. The result is the winning designs showcased in an open air exhibition and free to explore. This year&#8217;s theme is MIRAGE and asks the artists and the public to explore the boundaries of <em>what is seen and what is real. </em></p>

Join in a tour led by a spoken word artist, listen to music played on steel pan. Create poetry inspired by Sandra Brewster&#8217;s exhibition Blur; read books focused on Black Canadians, and make art in The Dr. Mariano Elia Hands-On Centre inspired by the first Black female Astronaut!</p>

The festival puts a global lens on themes of self-exploration, social media and coming of age. International films showcase challenges and situations that resonate with young audiences. The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, Harbourfront. This drop-in Family Day workshop will be led by Toronto-based arts organization Stolen From Africa in conjunction with the Harbourfront Centre&#8217;s Kuumba Festival. <p><a href="https://autoshow.ca/releases/come-out-and-play-at-the-2020-canadian-international-autoshow/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>Canadian International Auto Show:</strong> </a>February 14 to 23. Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Besides the multitude of family vehicles found across the show floors, recent years have seen special exhibits and presentations geared specifically towards families with young children. This year, Walt Disney Studios Canada presents ONWARD: The Pixar Vehicle Experience where the young ones can see some of their favourite Disney and Pixar vehicles in person, including &#8216;Guinevere&#8217; from upcoming film ONWARD, as well &#8216;Lightning McQueen&#8217; from Cars, and the motorcycle ridden by stunt artist Duke Caboom in Toy Story 4.  Along Castrol Alley, be sure to check out one of the largest indoor remote-controlled car demonstration test tracks and one of Canada’s leading toy retailers.</p>

February 22. Roy Thomson Hall. With music by Nathaniel Stookey and text by Lemony Snicket, this concert is a hilarious whodunit for the whole family. This relaxed performance is part of the TSO&#8217;s series designed for families and for people living with autism spectrum disorders, sensory and communication disorders, or learning disabilities, or anyone who wants a more casual concert experience. <p><a href="https://www.youngpeoplestheatre.org" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>Jungle Book:</strong></a> February 13 to March 21.  Young People&#8217;s Theatre. From creators, Craig Francis and Rick Miller (Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea) and based on Rudyard Kipling&#8217;s classic story, is brought to life in this wild, multi-media stage adaptation. As part of its North American tour after appearing in New York, this inventive story will transport you from the urban jungle to Mowgli&#8217;s childhood in the forests of India.</p>
<p><strong>Family Drag Brunch at the Gladstone Hotel:</strong> February 22. The entire family can join in the fun at another edition of the Drag Brunch. Join Miss Moco for an interactive brunch featuring performances, dress up with items from the &#8220;tickle trunk&#8221;. Reservations needed.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>February is a month of celebrating love and family. Even though it&#8217;s still winter, we have many opportunities to explore our city indoors and out. Lots of opportunities to get on one of the city&#8217;s outdoor skating rinks too! Here are some of our favourite February events in Toronto for the Family.</p>
<p><a href="http://bloor-yorkville.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>BLOOR-YORKVILLE ICEFEST</strong></a>: February 9 and 10. Free admission.</p>
<p>Head to the fanciest part of town and be ready to be dazzled by glistening ice sculptures. This year&#8217;s theme is &#8220;Hollywood North&#8221;. Over 70,000 lbs of crystal clear ice will be brought in for this magical display around the Yorkville Parkette vicinity. Ice artist demonstrations, food and drink vendors and entertainment happening all weekend long. New this year is the Icefest Scavenger hunt.</p>

<p>Explore Toronto’s winter oasis on the waterfront and create new memories to last a lifetime. In addition to regular winter program and renowned Winter Light Exhibition (and a 100 trees wrapped in Fairy-lights), there will be back-to-back DJ Skate Parties with DJ Fawn Big Canoe and DJ Shane Mackinnon, a YMCA Kids Winter Pop Up camp, bonfires with hot chocolate and marshmallows,  and a complimentary screening of a Beautiful Planet at the Cinesphere. <p>A jammed-pack day of fun for the entire family! Be sure to visit the newest dinosaur Zuul. Meet with the ROM&#8217;s scientists, researchers, and educators. Groove through time and discover historical dances with performances by Opera Atelier (Feb.18). Family friendly program includes dances from Baroque to Renaissance to Flaminco and contemporary.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.ontariosciencecentre.ca" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>INTERNATIONAL DAY OF WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SCIENCE</strong></a>: Ontario Science Centre. February 10.</p>
<p>Special programming in place to mark the  International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The spotlight on women in science include guest speakers who will share their personal stories. Challenge implicit biases, widen your perspective on what makes a great scientist and imagine your future in STEM.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.youngpeoplestheatre.ca/shows-tickets/we-are-all-treaty-people/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>WE ARE ALL TREATY PEOPLE</strong></a>: Young People&#8217;s Theatre. February 11 to 22.</p>
<p>Using history, song, dance and puppetry this stage production tells the tale of two children, one Indigenous and one white, who were told they couldn&#8217;t be friends due to the Alberta&#8217;s Treaty 7. Additional shows added for Family Day weekend.</p>

<p>This inventive and interactive show is bold and playful work inspiring kids to dance to the beat of their on drum &#8211; based on the alphabet! Take a journey through the world of letters and words in a unique experience where children not only see a dance production but actively participate. Recommended for ages to 8.</p>
<p><a href="https://ago.ca/events/family-day-2019" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>FAMILY DAY AT THE AGO</strong></a>: Art Gallery of Ontario. February 18. Free with general admission.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s an all-day family collage party. Hands on arts activities including creating art sculptures and puzzles. Learn dance moves with FlowHER House Collective at the all day dance party. Join in a Karaoke session. Enjoy family friendly tours of Mickalene Thomas’ <em>Femmes Noires</em> exhibition.</p>

Public spaces Waterfront from Queens Quay West. Explore five interactive art installations in the open spaces along the city&#8217;s lake. This year&#8217;s theme is &#8220;Signal Transmission&#8221; inspires conversation and community.</p>
<p><a href="https://torontolightfest.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>TORONTO LIGHT FEST</strong></a>: Distillery Historical District. Free admission.</p>
<p>The nights are cold but they are brightened up with the colourful installation by local and international artists. Giving us great excuse to get outside and warm up to winter. Bundle up and enjoy the nights.</p>
<p><a href="http://wondersofthesea3d.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>WONDERS OF THE SEA</strong></a>: Various select theatres. A stunning new 3D, 4K documentary directed by and features Jacques Cousteau&#8217;s son Jean-Michel along with his two grown children is the perfect way to forget about winter coldest days. The film captures the the wonderful underwater world with new technology and explores rarely seen sea creatures while warning bout the impacts of climate change. Narration by Arnold Schwarzenegger.</p>

<p>Skate the 8 in the 6ix! The 220m figure-eight skate trail is open daily. Bring your own skates or on-site rentals available. Free drop-in skate lessons and rentals on Thursday nights until February 14. Note: PA Day, Feb 15 and Family Day extended hours.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.autoshow.ca"><strong>CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW:</strong></a> Metro Toronto Convention Centre. February 15 to 24</p>
<p>Lots to see and do for the family and the annual AutoShow. See the future concept cars, check out the super cars at Exotica exhibit from McLaren, Lamborghini and the Devel Sixteen (North American debut of the first Dubai-built car). Families with kids will want to visit <strong>Honda Canada</strong> to check out Virtual Reality Hockey, the 50 Year Zone &#8211; a fully interactive display of Honda&#8217;s five decades. Check out <strong>Acura Canada</strong> and try your racing skills as you manoeuvre a NSX around a virtual track. <strong>Ford Canada</strong> also has added The Sleep Suit to its line of &#8220;impairment suits&#8221; used to educated drivers and raise awareness about the dangerous effects of driving &#8211;visitors can give them a try and see what it&#8217;s like.  Check out our additional list of must-sees on our site.</p>
<p><a href="https://hotdocscinema.ca/c/family-day"><strong>FAMILY DAY AT HOT DOCS CINEMA:</strong></a> February 18. A full day of films and free special events on schedule for the whole family. Check out the empowering documentary Girls Rock! featuring Girls Rock Camp  where young women are taught that  it&#8217;s okay to yell and scream. Screening is followed with a special performance by Girls Rock Camp toronto. Join Toronto&#8217;s most inspiring young activists in a lively discussion about how to be the change in today&#8217;s world. Budding chefs should check out the documentary Chef Flynn that follows a 10-year old and his rise to fame in the food world.</p>

This featured attraction at this year&#8217;s CIAS will include a Hot Wheels super track built at the show, the opportunity to build your own super track in the Hot Wheels Play Zone, a dedicated display area that will feature Hot Wheels collectors and their treasures, the opportunity to get up close to six life-size Hot Wheels cars, including the Darth Vadar Car and the 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS. <p><strong>The Secret Garden:</strong> The children&#8217;s classic adapted from the book by author Frances Hodgson Burnett is now on stage at Young People&#8217;s Theatre until March 17. The story tells the inspirational story of your Mary Lennox. After her parents&#8217; death, Mary was sent to live with her uncle in Yorkshire. She&#8217;s spoiled, arrogant and entitled with no one but housekeepers to keep her from getting into trouble. On the property she soon discovers an unattended hidden garden. Her curiosity also leads her to reveal other secrets of the house and she finally makes the unlikeliest of friends. She learns that gardens, like people, need attention in order to thrive. This stage production is a real treat for those of us who are familiar with the book as well as today&#8217;s generation just discovering it. Worth noting is the cast involved including Gemini Award winning actor Dan Lett (Made in Canada) and ACTRA nominated actress Vivien Endicott-Douglas. In addition to watching the competitions on the big screen in the atrium, kids can also try out some of the sports for themselves! There will be a snowboard simulate, two curling sheets, and a Para ice hockey experience. Bring your camera, sports fans can take a seat in CBC&#8217;s own &#8220;Throne of Games&#8221; a collection of gear creates a very cool chair that&#8217;s great for pics! 										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We&#8217;re fortunate to have an extra day off in February to spend time with our families and let&#8217;s face it, it&#8217;s a long stretch between Christmas and Easter. Family Day this year is on Monday, February 15 here in Ontario and we can&#8217;t wait! Here are a few fun things to do with the kids during the Family Day Weekend in Toronto.</p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.rom.on.ca/en" target="_blank">Royal Ontario Museum:</a> </strong>(100 Queen&#8217;s Park) hosts another BIG weekend full of fun. This particular weekend celebrates the Lunar New Year with lion dances, and good fortune. Learn about time-honoured traditions and of course roam around the galleries!</p>

Learn how researchers use cutting-edge science and technology to excavate and analyze tusks, teeth and even stomach contents to learn more about the mighty creatures who roamed the northern hemisphere during the last Ice Age. Exhibit opens February 10.</p>

See instagram worthy exotic cars, vintage cars, as well as, the latest technology and dreams concept cars. Lots of hands on activities for kids, celebrity meet &amp; greets, and excitement to keep everyone entertained. Family Day usually means extra fun catered to kids so keep an eye on the website for more information. Special pricing for family passes. Tuck a few snacks because food vendors are pricey. If little ones get tired, you can park them at the Volkswagen Playcare Centre staffed with professional care givers.</p>

This brand new winter event supports the Snowball Fund and helps families living through cancer by funding life-saving research and vital support services. The idea is to donate online, then get together and get outside and have fun. If you&#8217;d like to join other families on February 15, there will be activities happening at Todmorden Mills (67 Pottery Road) including 5K snowshoe along the Don Valley Trail or join in for great eats, treats and hot drinks to keep you warm.</p>

Within the glass, a figure skater swirls around. The Brigantine Room is transformed into a giant snowglobe inspired installation. Toronto hockey legend Wendel Clark will also be signing pucks at the Lakeside Terrace from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. February 15, 2016.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.kidapalooza.ca/" target="_blank"><strong>KIDAPALOOZA Family Festival</strong></a> (February 13 to 15, 2016) is an indoor festival taking place at the Markham Fair Grounds (10801 McCowan Road). Over 35,000 square feet of activities filled with hands-on activities, rides, games and performances. Daily sing-a-longs with the Frozen gang and loads of play areas. Vendors too.</p>
